Stone Town is the oldest area of Zanzibar City, the capital of Zanzibar, which is an island off Tanzania. The old town is built on a triangular peninsula of land on the western coast of the island. The oldest part of Stone Town is made up of a maze of narrow alleys to houses, shops, bazaars and mosques. Most times cars are too wide to drive down the labyrinth of winding streets.
